Local SEO

Do you want to get more local customers to visit or call your business? With 47% of Google searches requesting for local information, it is very difficult to ignore using local SEO services as the direction for your business to earn more valuable clients.

Local search engine optimization is the method of raising Google rankings. This is done by implementing a series of tactics in hopes of higher search rankings when a customer does a “near me” search. Businesses rely on local SEO services to get more customers for their business without having to pay for expensive advertising.

Here are some statistics to support why you should be looking at local search engine optimization for your business:

  • 88% of consumer local business searches on a mobile device either call or visit the business within 24 hours. (Nectafy)
  • 86% of people look up the location of a business on Google Maps.
  • 92% of searchers will pick businesses on the first page of local search results.

Google controls a majority of the traffic online and it is the #1 website on Alexa.  In fact, if Google de-indexed Amazon from their search engine, Amazon would lose 34% of their traffic. Imagine a large brand like that losing 30% of their traffic! Google controls traffic.

Understanding Our Local SEO Approach

We’re not your average SEO team. We are a handpicked team of specialists who love competing for the big boy terms in every industry. We have an enjoyably aggressive nature in our company culture and we replicate those same efforts with our clients.  Here’s an outline of how we approach the scope of work associated with a local SEO service campaign:

Reporting & Analysis

We begin by getting a true understanding of where you are in the local SEO process. We dig deep to thoroughly evaluate where your keywords are currently appearing in the Google search engine.  With a good analysis of where your business stands, we can proactively prepare for your campaign. Our reporting is broken down to a few simple measurements to analyze your SEO health:

  • Technical Analysis: This is where we check the health of your website. We look for things such as website speed, usability, tracking, accurate conversion code installation, and other development-related aspects which can benefit local SEO visibility.
  • Competitor Analysis: Our skilled SEO team finds the answers to questions about the competition before diving into any campaign. Who are your main competitors? Why are they ranking at the top of the search engine? What content are they producing and how often? Where are they spending their marketing dollars?
  • Traffic Analysis: We evaluate exactly how visitors are searching for businesses like yours and finding their desired results. Picking the right keywords is a crucial part of our local SEO services. Where are your visitors currently coming from? How many are coming from local organic search? Where are the largest opportunities to get local clients who will buy your services?

Local Keyword Research

Once we complete our analysis and understand your technical opportunities, it is time to determine the best SEO keywords for your business to target. If you’ve had local SEO services done before, your website is probably already targeting these keywords. It is likely we will discover some “easy win” keyword opportunities once we generate the report which is a great thing because our local SEO packages often raise your low hanging fruit keywords immediately. Here are some of the key ways we find your local SEO keywords:

  • Using keyword research tools: Our team will often start by looking at what people are searching for in your area. Using this data, we can compose a list of suggested keywords to improve how often your business matches the search.
  • Using your competitor’s keywords: It is likely that your competitor is ranking for valuable keywords that you also want to target. We start by taking a deep look into what they’re ranking for, how they are ranking, and then we one-up them by creating higher quality content for your business.
  • Asking you what keywords you want to target: The first thing we ask a new client is what keywords they want to target.  By understanding your keyword phrases, we can make a recommendation based on the data we generate during our analysis.  Your customers and their searching habits are often the greatest resource when it comes to finding local keyword opportunities so ask them how they found you!

In the next stage of your campaign, the Fishing Marketing Company team implements a variety of scheduled SEO tasks including creating content, optimizing local listings and executing ethical white hat link building. Our team concentrates on actions that are high impact when it comes to SEO so long articles, Google Maps focus and high-quality backlinks will begin to rank your website in the search engines. We understand that for your business to win online, you must be discovered on a local basis. Here is how our agency is set apart when it comes to local SEO implementation:

Organic SEO:  The work we do during the implementation process marinates, cooks up and continuously serves as a gourmet meal. This is what is meant by organic SEO. The enhancements we roll out will improve the SEO health of your website forever. No quick spikes or fad improvements.

Extensive On-Page SEO:  We conduct a SWOT analysis of your digital marketing presence to determine strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats. In addition to assessing your technical health and keyword mapping, we complete a thorough on-page SEO process for all of the current pages of your website.

Off-Page SEO:  Online mentions are one of the primary reasons a local website ranks high in search engines. By using effective off-page SEO and local PR, we can predictably bring you more mentions from other sites which skyrockets your local SEO performance.

Measuring Performance Closely

As a part of the SEO campaign, our team scrupulously looks into what is moving and what is not. From the reporting we produce, we can often determine which is the best direction to move next. If we see that keywords are rising on one page but not the others, we put the time in necessary to get all pages up and running without losing viability in the search. Here are some things that we monitor very closely throughout your campaign:

Keyword Movement Reporting: The targeted keywords chosen at the beginning of your SEO campaign are tracked throughout the campaign to determine their movement in search engine rankings. Our team at Fishing Marketing Company delivers these results to you in a monthly report so that you can see if we’re progressing or losing rank.

Google Analytics Reporting:  By using Google Analytics data, we often discover re-optimizing opportunities in your SEO campaign. With this date, we show you your traffic segmented by gender, age, behavior, income, location, search device, and much more.

Executive Reporting: At the end of each month, you will receive an executive reporting statement where we communicate all of our optimization efforts in one report.  This includes evert detail including analytics, rankings, directories, and social media stats. Our executive reporting will show you a birds-eye view of how well you’re performing online.

Using Rich Media To Amplify Local SEO

Rich media greatly supports a successful local SEO campaign. With more and more of your customers watching video, reading infographics, and looking for pictures on a website, you need to use more than just text to give your local SEO campaign that extra advantage. The Fishing Marketing Company team understands this and uses rich media throughout your campaign including images designed to fit your brand, videos that represent your business, and infographics that show your expertise in a visual format that consumers can just eat up.

Amplifying your local SEO results starts with understanding the different media outlets appropriate for your local SEO campaign:

Using audio for local SEO: Audio is a special type of media that can build trust and authority with your visitors, verbally urging them to make the commitment and opt in to your offer of your call to action. Audio is a great format for those who don’t want to get in front of a camera but want their visitors to hear their message.

Using video marketing for local SEO:  Video marketing is one of the best ways to tell a story.  Giving your visitors the option to watch a video ultimately builds the relationship between them and your brand and also gets them to visit your site for a bit longer.  This extra time on your website amplifies your search engine optimization results making video marketing a key local SEO option.  Our video production team ensures that your brand is represented accurately throughout all social platforms.

Using infographics for local SEO:  We live in a world of busy people who want to get in and out as quickly as possible.  Infographics give them what they’re searching for in concise and visually appealing presentations. The Fishing Marketing Company team creates “eye candy” for your website by showing off your brand in the form of an infographic, providing your viewers and visitors with information that is easy to understand.

Using Social Media To Accelerate Local SEO Results

Social media marketing is not something to overlook when doing a Local SEO campaign. Social signals and citations are 4% of Google’s local ranking factor according to MOZ local. Although that is a small percentage, social media and branding can amplify SEO results due to the branded searches after a social engagement campaign. In other words, if customers do a search for your business after they saw a social media post, you will gain an added SEO benefit. Google likes brands and if customers are searching for your business in the Google search, then Google will give you more of a quality score because of your branding. For example, our agency receives around 400 searches per month for our branded keyword and it helps us stand out in the marketplace in terms of SEO. The Fishing Marketing Company team will design, schedule, and post on your social media profiles for you so you don’t have to do the busy work.

What is Off Page SEO?

Off site SEO refers to search engine optimization that takes place away from your website. Though websites represent the principal digital asset for DFW businesses, expanding online presence to additional channels both increases search visibility and improves reputation. Though on page and off site SEO seem like competing methodologies, they actually work best when used collaboratively. Examples of off site SEO include:

  • Backlinks: Inbound links from external web pages
  • Citation Sources: Claimed and optimized business listings on internet directories like Google My Business
  • Reviews: Accumulated testimonials on platforms like Yelp, Google, Facebook, and others
  • Social Media: Activity, and participation on social networks including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, and YouTube

Research shows that off site optimization plays a considerable role in local search rankings, as evidenced by Moz’s 2017 Local Ranking Factors study. Though most instances of off site SEO involve links, there are contrarian cases such as unlinked brand mentions, and influencer marketing. Google also considers offline factors when determining a company’s reputation, some of which are grandfathered in from pre-existing brand awareness

What is On Page SEO?

On page SEO references optimization that takes place directly on a primary website. Examples include, page content, title tags, header tags, and meta descriptions. In contrast, off site SEO refers to optimization that occurs away from a primary website, such as backlink generation, NAP citations, social media activity, etc. When people reference search engine optimization, they are typically referring to on page SEO, as it serves as the foundation for other online ventures. On page SEO helps local businesses through the following:

  • Conversion Rate: Traffic generated from on page SEO, is more likely to complete a call to action
  • CTR/Bounce Rate: Good SEO attracts more users, and keeps them longer
  • Long Term Value: Local SEO doesn’t go away, it is a long term asset
  • Search Engine Rankings: On page SEO directly influences your ranking on Google SERPs

On page optimization is a business asset and should be treated as such. As is the case with other company assets, on page SEO has a chance to grow and expand over time. As Google continues to prioritize websites that create an optimal user experience, local companies must follow suit and allocate resources to help Google facilitate this process. Examples of On Page SEO

What does On page SEO actually look like? Well, it can be presented in a variety of ways, but the common theme is that it appears on a primary website. A simple look at your main site, or the site of a competitor for that matter, will reveal several examples of on page optimization, both good and bad. A good example would be a H1 tag with an appropriate heading and naturally placed keyword. A bad example would be an image with no alt text and an irrelevant file name. Other examples of on page SEO include:

  • Content: The lifeblood of your SEO is quality content that both informs and engages the user
  • Header Tags: H1s, H2s, and H3s, should each include primary or secondary keywords, without stuffing
  • Structured Data Markup: Implementing microdata to markup your services, helps search engines more effectively market your website
  • Title Tags: Each page title should contain a primary keyword
  • Meta Descriptions: Descriptions should contain multiple keywords, as well as a call to action

On Page vs Off Page SEO

We previously mentioned that collaboration between on page and off site SEO is the optimal internet marketing approach. One concept should never come at the expense of its counterpart. For business owners unfamiliar with on page SEO, it refers to optimization that takes place on your website. From a traditional perspective, on page SEO is a more well documented practice and involves more universally known concepts like keyword research, and website structure. Further examples of on page SEO include:

  • Internal Linking: Creating relevant links through web content, that link to other pages within the same domain
  • Keyword Placement: Optimizing your page content with researched keywords
  • Title, Header & Meta Tags: Ensuring your title and header tags have keywords and your meta description is informative and appropriate
  • URL Structure: Creating a URL hierarchy that enhances user experience and presents seamless navigation

On page SEO serves as the foundation to your digital presence, and the structure upon which off site SEO can expand. Because most off site sources, such as internet directories, and social media profiles, contain spaces for website URL’s on their profile pages, it’s important to have a high quality website to present. Lack of a responsive website, or poor optimization techniques, severely limit the potential of your off site presence.

What is Technical SEO ?

Search engine optimization has three major categories, on page SEO, off site SEO, and the less discussed; technical SEO. While the other two categories are mostly self-explanatory, technical SEO presents greater nuance and requires a more in-depth understanding of design terminology. Attempting to grasp all three concepts can be difficult, particularly while running a full time business. Fort Worth SEO is here to save you the stress. Check out the differences below:

  • On Page SEO: Content related optimization on a primary website (i.e. company website)
  • Off Site SEO: Content related optimization away from a primary website (i.e. social media profile)
  • Technical SEO: Non-content related optimization on a primary website (i.e. site speed)

Every component of SEO impacts ranking and visibility. Paying mind to only two while ignoring one can negate the work you’ve done moving forward. At Fishing Marketing Company, we believe in a complete online presence. That’s why we include each SEO element in our services. Not only will your on page content be optimized, but so will your off site content, and the technical aspects of your primary website.

Examples of Technical SEO

Without tangible examples, technical optimization can be difficult to grasp. Fort Worth SEO helps you through each step of the process, providing examples and insights that you won’t find anywhere else. As a full-spectrum online marketing firm, we cover everything from technical search optimization to pay per click advertising. With research to support our ideal of a complete online presence, the sky’s the limit for local businesses that choose to partner with us. Examples of technical SEO include:
  • Crawling and Indexing: Optimizing for Google web crawlers
  • Mobile UX: Ensuring optimal user interface (especially on mobile)
  • Site Speed: Maximizing loading speed
  • URL Structure: Implementation of a URL hierarchy

There’s some disagreement about the impact of technical SEO on ranking and visibility. At Fishing Marketing Company, the evidence is clear, and the impact is real. Google has essentially endorsed this concept with their mobile speed initiatives, including their latest tools to help websites start winning on mobile. It’s hard to ignore the effect of loading speed on user experience and subsequently on ranking position. As Google’s algorithm gets more sophisticated, producing the most technically sound website possible will become an even greater priority.

How long does it take to rank?

Rankings are dependent on keyword difficulty (KD) to determine a market’s competition. This is a score ranging from 0 to 100; the higher the score, the more difficult the keyword is to rank.  For example, if your business is targeting a keyword with a score of 80, it will take longer to rank than a keyword that has a KD of 9 score. At Fishing Marketing Company, we use a variety of SEO tools to dtermine keyword dificultty including ahrefs.

Will you put me in a contract?

We usually place our clients into agreements as SEO is not a one-month-and-done solution. The only time we don’t use contracts is when we’re doing a one-time optimization for a given website.  Once you contact us, we conduct an audit of how well you’re performing in an organic search. Based on what our team sees, there will be a scope of work laid out for your viewing that outlines the time and budget needed to rank for your desired keywords.

How does your pricing work?

Our pricing is based on the hours it takes to get the optimal keyword placement in a Google search. Going for keywords with more competition takes more time and much more production than a keyword with low difficulty.  For a keyword such as “New York SEO” which has a KD score of 52, we would charge more than smaller keywords which are easier to rank such as such as “New York SEO marketing agency”.

What is your approach to SEO?

Our approach varies depending on your type of business. Regardless of the industry, our approach focuses on: creating quality, relevant content; updating content regularly; creating click-worthy title tags and meta tags; using image alt tags; focusing on website speed; and having link-worthy content. With these methods, we see positive movements through any industry.

Do I pick the keywords?

When we launch an SEO campaign, we always ask you what keywords you want to rank for. Once we have your set list of keywords, we use our expertise to determine other keywords that fit well with your brand authority. Targeting keywords all comes down to what the user is trying to accomplish after they make that search. We also use tools to find keywords that are being searched the most both locally and worldwide.

Will you write the content?

Yes. If you don’t have existing website content for us to optimize, we will do it for you. Our SEO strategy is also a content marketing strategy. Using a team of highly skilled writers, we can create content that represents your brand and what it stands for. We specialize in writing articles that are 100 – 10,000 words long all in efforts to rank for a specific keyword. If you already have content, we then optimize your existing content to make sure it gets impressions in the search.
